Anticipation for “Reputation” is Overrated: Why Taylor Swift’s Life is Too Dramatic

Whenever I think of Taylor Swift’s life, it all seems like a drama show that my friends watch: overdramatic, orchestrated and frankly, kind of fake.

I mean, if you think about it, she doesn’t even have that many exes. I’d say that it still falls in the “healthy” range. Besides, not every single one of her songs is about breaking up. However, after listening to her new song, “Look What You Made Me Do”, I will definitely say that she is trying to make her life seem far more complicated than it is. If she’s trying to get attention, she has definitely gotten all our attention.

Her new album, “Reputation” comes on November 10.

I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift for as long as I can remember and although I was never a big fan of her music, I would say most of it is not bad. I particularly liked her album, Red and the song, I Knew You Were Trouble”. But recently, it seems like she’s trying too hard to change who she was. At the end of her “Look What You Made Me Do” video, she even makes fun of her own reputation.

Swift is sitting in a tub of diamonds in her new video, “Look What You Made Me Do”

Her new song, “Look What You Made Me Do” definitely has references to her longstanding drama with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. She also makes reference to the many insults that she has received over the years.

I think that this video was Taylor Swift’s way of getting back at the haters and transforming it into music but the song itself is still a bit weak in terms of lack of changes in the melody and harmonies. The first time I heard this song, I thought it sounded too similar to some thriller movie soundtrack.
