“The Times I’m Not There” is destined to be on your next sleepover jam, dance party or road trip playlist.

The song starts with omninous hums that kicks right into an 80's rock riff in electric guitar.

The song features Jamila Woods’s smooth voice. The problem, however, is that the song is so focused on the band that at some parts of the song, her voice is covered up by the spectacular guitar riffs.

This short, two-minute gem doesn’t feel satisfying when it ends and it leaves the listener begging for more. After all, who can ever get enough of that groovy, 80's beat.

Her voice is doubled in a perfect fourth which creates beautiful layers of texture between her voice and the instruments. It feels very atmospheric at times.

I think if another verse or chorus was added, this song would have been more addicting.
